Explain why you selected the artifact.
This course's purpose was to help students build a site for classroom use, as well as for our cohort to get a site started for the capstone. I chose to build a site that would be to collect new tools and organize them in one place. While I was able to do so, I have not continued to maintain the site and keep up with it. Now that we are at the end of our program, I am not sure that I want to take on the task of organizing new tools for others. There are already several who have taken up that banner and have done so quite well. Finding them and keeping up with them, telling others about them, etc. is a far more useful endeavor for me.
Include how the skills and knowledge gained from creation of the artifact advanced your skills and teaching practice.
While making this site, I had to think about the layout, the look, the links, which tools I wanted to include, etc. I also had to consider how the links to the tools would look, whether it would be just the text name of the site, a picture of the logo, combination of the two, etc. This translates to my own classroom preparation. I get daily feedback from students about how my classroom site looks, especially if I make changes.
Identify what gaps in your skills and knowledge still exist. Suggest solutions to address the gaps.
While I find myself confident in my web design skills, I did not care for the mechanics in the wordpress site creation. I find that for our capstone, the wikispace did the job in a much more efficient manner. If I were forced to use the wordpress site creation, I certainly could, and I know where I could find help should I run into an issue I could not resolve with my current skills.
